I wanted to help someone find their path. I didn't expect to find a business partner at the espresso machine.
For years I'd prayed about who I could pour into — someone I could help see their own path and actually grow into it. I wasn't picturing a business. I was picturing one person, one conversation at a time. Instead, in walked Sylyna — a genuinely gifted barista (& photographer) with the kind of warmth that makes a room feel hosted, not just occupied.
Our stories were different, but somehow incredibly similar. We both knew what it felt like to grow through hard things. We both believed people deserved to feel seen. And we laughed — the kind of laughter that reminds you growth can actually be joyful.
On paper we're 36 years apart. She's taught me the actual difference between espresso and "a cup of coffee" (apparently there is one, and apparently I'd been getting it wrong for years). I've taught her which mistakes aren't worth making the hard way. Somehow it works anyway. Turns out confidence doesn't care what year you were born.
